My small scientific art gallery Drawn using a large variety of tools and techniques: from basic photoshopping of pre-existing images (bird navigation cartoons) to generating complex 3D scenes essentially from scratch (EPR Centre) or importing them from the molecular visualisation packages (CIDNP picture) and scientific computing environments (COSY sunset), and post-processing in PovRay and 3D Studio.
"Phase-sensitive sunset", a multiplet from a theoretical COSY spectrum rendered in 3D Studio.
Three joke pictures inspired by the magnetic field effects and their possible role in bird navigation. Pictures courtesy of Warner Brothers, rejigged in Photoshop.
Concept art of tryptophan CIDNP polarization in lysozyme (TOC picture for Peter Hore's recent article in JACS). A heavily Photoshopped 3D Studio render of MOLMOL-generated VRML structure file.
A number of intermediate and final logo variants for SCM2005.
Two candidate logos for Oxford University EPR Centre.
A logo for the forthcoming ESR2007 conference.
